The Portuguese Water Dog is unfortunately, becoming a "high demand" breed.  There are a lot of puppies now being sold on internet websites from people who are not involved for the betterment of the breed.  Please - do your homework and "Buyer Beware".

VISIT the official Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA) website to learn about the importance of genetic health testing, how to recognize an ethical, responsible breeder and other information you must know before bringing a new puppy into your home. This is not a breed for just anyone!

RESEARCH the breeder.  If you can personally visit the breeder's home before making this important decision. Written instructions on feeding, training, care and grooming should be provided by the breeders, along with pedigree, health, vaccination records  and a contract. VERIFY that both parents have undergone appropriate health testing and see a copy of the certificates as proof. Ask for references from puppy buyer's from previous litters the breeder raised - be informed and educated

A breeder should not place a puppy into a new home until at least 8 weeks of age or older. Questar typical places puppies when they are 10 weeks old.

Questar breeds occasionally.  All breeding stock are OFA, Optigen, CERF, GM-1 and JDCM health tested in accordance with the recommendations of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA).
ALL puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC), and placed according to family compatibility. Contract includes lifetime breeder support and you can return the dog no questions asked if you are unable to keep the dog for any reason.
Please feel free to contact us regarding upcoming or an available litter.  We're also happy to refer you to reputable breeders should we not have puppies available.
